Three research questions and one null hypothesis were formulated, to guide the study. The survey research design was adopted for the study and a structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Data obtained from 220 Lectures of the faculties of education in University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka were studied and analyzed. The study revealed computer, communication and math competency skill needs of the lecturers for effective data analysis in educational research using computer software.
