This includes limited capacity of grid infrastructure and the intermittency nature of renewables. Thus, enhancing and improving AC grids is a persistent objective for system planners and operators. In this paper, improving overall system capacity and reliability by replacing AC transmission lines with high voltage DC (HVDC) links is proposed. A simulation model is designed and tested to verify the operation of an AC grid with integrated HVDC links. The Jordanian electrical AC grid is considered as a case study to implement the proposed approach.
