Fog Computing: A Review on Integration of Cloud Computing and Internet of Things
The integration of Cloud Computing and Internet of Things is setting major goals for developing smarter applications. It has changed the way of computation, storage, processing and other limitations for the things linked to the Internet. Innovations are stimulating in both the fields with this integration. Applications, nowadays are backed up by the services of clouds, which manifolds increase the capability of individual ‘things.’ However, this integration suffers from many challenges such as high latency, huge bandwidth requirements, working with different protocol suites, etc. Fog computing has emerged as a solution to these challenges. It is an extension of cloud services to the edge of the network with an additional layer called as fog layer. This paper presents the architecture, characteristics and need of the fog computing. Various challenges and future directions have also been highlighted for the paradigm of fog computing.
