The SPECTRE project looks at these challenges through the lens of the disciplines of law, communication sciences and economics. The aim is to explore and propose legitimate, participatory and economically-sound solutions for enhancing data protection. SPECTRE will argue for greater responsibilisation in the smart city environment, by increasing participation of different stakeholders through the development of a collaborative, cost-efficient Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) methodology.
