Until national laws allow unmanned aerial vehicles to fly independently, we will see large numbers of UAV swarms performing various tasks in the intelligent cities, including package delivery, facility management, event filming, monitoring and tracking. 5G/B5G mobile networks will benefit the UAV environment, and it can be used to enhance UAV communications in a variety of ways. UAVs' features of versatile mobility in 3D space, as well as autonomous operations and intelligent positioning, accommodate a wide range of wireless technologies and applications. This paper is meant to detail how 5G/B5G mobile systems and UAV technology merge to offer both enhanced aerial mobility and increased data capabilities for mobile users (UE). Cellularly linked UAVs play the role of cellular flying consumers, and are referred to as UAVs with a direct connection to consumers (a.k.a. UAV-UE, drone-UE, 5G-connected drone, or aerial user). This project's focus is to assemble an in-depth task analysis along with essential technical advancements in 5G/B5G and on-going field trial and prototyping work on cell-based UAVs. This report details recent developments within the 3GPP organisation and presents social and economic issues that must be taken into consideration before a successful introduction of this potentially useful technology.
