Suggestions on introducing CLIL in primary schools

CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning. It refers to teaching subjects such as Science, History or Geography to students through a foreign language. This can be done by the foreign language teacher using cross curricular content or by the subject teacher using a foreign language as the language of instruction, or by both teachers, teaching in tandem. Both methods result in the simultaneous learning of content and of a foreign language. The present paper is intended to help teachers new to CLIL to start implementing CLIL activities effectively and become comfortable within this new approach, as well as help students better adapt to the CLIL approach.
