Zespół Fahra – rzadka choroba o złożonej symptomatologii. Przegląd piśmiennictwa
The Fahr syndrome is a rare disease characterized by bilateral, symmetrical classifications within the basal ganglia and in other areas of the brain, especially around the thalamus, dentate nucleus, cerebellum, and hippocampus. The article presents a complex symptomatology of this syndrome based on the latest literature reports and current diagnostic criteria. Due to the variety of symptoms that constitutes the clinical picture of Fahr syndrome, differential diagnosis is a challenge for clinicians and requires interdisciplinary collaboration with representatives of many medical specialties. The coexistence of hearing disorders in patients with Fahr syndrome may disturb the diagnostic and therapeutic process and require the involvement of an otolaryngologist or audiologist. Hence, the aim of the article is also to present the characteristics of hearing loss and its treatment in patients with Fahr syndrome.
