Failures of the stator winding belong among the most common faults in asynchronous motors. In this paper, simulations of single phasing of three-phase asynchronous motor have been carried out using COMSOL Multiphysics software. The asynchronous motor has been created as two-dimensional model with defined out of plane thickness. Firstly, the simulation has been carried out for the motor loaded with the nominal torque with the disconnection of one phase after reaching the steady-state. Secondly, the simulation has been carried out for the unloaded motor in the single phasing mode. Results of chosen electrical and mechanical motor parameters are presented and discussed in this paper. The simulation studies have shown and confirmed that the single phasing is accompanied by an increase in motor currents and changes in monitored variables waveforms.
