Impact Evaluation: Scratch in Basic Education

The paper presents Scratch4All project, co-financed by the Estrutura Missão Portugal Inovação Social and its impact assessment. This assessment is supported by the Theory of Change, with a focus on direct and indirect beneficiaries, students, teachers, student’s families and mentors. In this study the evaluation instruments were specifically developed, namely, focus group guides and the realization of focus groups for the construction of a questionnaire, by beneficiary. The data reveal that the Scratch4All project has a positive impact on the school environment, allowing young people to come into contact with technology in an educational environment, having developed skills not only in terms of programming, but also in other school subjects.
