Unmanned helicopter systems has been used more often for the disaster surveying and monitoring. In order to provide the facility of carrying and dropping the payload from the helicopter, this paper presents a servo actuated payload drop mechanism design for the unmanned disaster relief helicopter. The proposed payload drop mechanism is operated with two servo motors and uses metallic gears based mechanism to carry and drop the payload of up to 9kg. SolidWorks Virtual Computer Aided Design (CAD) platform has been used for the modelling and drop test simulations of proposed mechanism.
