Enabling Digital Government Through Transformation: Student Track

Digital transformation has been on the rise over the past decade with the majority of organisations viewing it as critical to their survival over the next five years [1] However, in spite of the benefits, it also creates a major risk for government organisations with up to 90% of digital transformation projects resulting in failures [2, 3, 4] This research-in-progress article presents the findings of a 168 study systematic literature review (SLR) and 5 qualitative interviews to identify the holistic risks accompanying digital transformation within the government sector. This led to the identification of six major risk domains pertaining to digital transformation in the public sector: (i) Stakeholder, (ii) Culture, (iii) Organisation, (iv) Strategy, (v) Processes and (vi) Technology.
