The Dual Scale consists in a pitch set constructed upon a diatonic logic. Its employment results in a remarkable modal ambiguity. Its application can be verified in tonal works from the baroque through the romantic, in contexts in which its expressiveness features semiotic elements like duality, ambiguity or paradox.
