INFOGRAPHICS. A way to increase competences

In Argentina, the second generation of standards for the accreditation of university engineering courses was approved and one of its objectives is to consolidate a student-centered learning model. Among the generic competences to get a university degree, one of them states to “act with ethics, professional responsibility, and social commitment, considering the economic, social and environmental impact of its activity in the local and global context”. In this paper, we explored the experience carried out in the Computing Course. Our objective is to contribute to increase this competence which brings knowledge into play. The project-oriented learning method was used. The project started with the search and selection of information, focused on the social and environmental impact of technological evolution and the responsibility for its use and development. The result was an Infographic, and, in its elaboration, the students also displayed their synthesis skills.
