Alohomora: Unlocking the Door to Unconscious with Freud: A Psychoanalytic Study of the Characters in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter Series
Since the emergence of the epical journey of J.K. Rowling's fictional character, Harry Potter, the series has become a phenomenal part of not just children’s literature but intrigues adults as well. It arouses interest in both readers and critics. This paper intends to read the series in the light of the psychoanalytic theory and seeks to unveil the functioning of the human psyche. The research also looks forward to studying the psychological development of different characters of the series by digging into their unconscious. The whole Harry Potter series has a lot of psychological subtext in it, which can be revealed by delving deeper into the unconscious level of the characters. This paper aims at doing that through the psychoanalytical theory of Sigmund Freud.
