Pyroelectric properties of various LiTaO/sub 3/ related ceramics
Highly densified LiTaO/sub 3/ derived ceramics have been obtained in the LiTaO/sub 3/-Li/sub 2/O, LiTaO/sub 3/-LiMgF/sub 3/-LiMg(OH)/sub 3/, LiTaO/sub 3/-Li/sub 2/SiO/sub 3/ and LiTaO/sub 3/-CaZrO/sub 3/ systems. The purpose was to relate the composition and the texture of the ceramic to its pyroelectric properties. All samples investigated showed a ferroelectric-paraelectric transition. The LiTaO/sub 3/-type solid solution in the LiTaO/sub 3/-CaZrO/sub 3/ system presented a diffuse phase transition resulting from chemical inhomogeneities. The pyroelectric coefficients of polarized ceramics were close to 4 nC-cm/sup -2/ K/sup -1/, a value which can be increased up to 6 nC-cm/sup -2/ K/sup -1/ by quick sintering for the calcium and zirconium containing samples.<>
