CENTRO DE INTERPRETACIÓN DEL PATRIMONIO DE SANTIAGO DE TOLÚ

The research object of this article, part of the realization of an analysis through primary and secondary sources of the main facts that mark the history of the municipality of Santiago de Tolú, in order to propose the creation of a center for the interpretation of the historical heritage of the Villa de Santiago de Tolú, epicenter of the Gulf of Morrosquillo in the department of Sucre, carrying out a previous study that allowed the identification of its heritage, the documentation of the main historical events and cultural manifestations of the municipality in reference. The methodology was applied in the municipality of Santiago de Tolú, in a year and a half. In order to carry it out, the main theorists of heritage concepts such as Molano, Massó, Piñol and UNESCO as a world leader in cultural heritage were taken as a starting point; besides the considerations of the current legal regulations about Tourism and culture. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the municipality of Santiago de Tolú has a great importance in the history of Colombia, as it stands out as an important supply center of the Spaniards in the colony, added to its main role as one of the main maritime ports of the time, a feature that it has retained to this day, due to its strategic position in the great basin of the Colombian Caribbean. It is expected that the Interpretation Center will be an instrument to rescue the historical memory of the municipality of Santiago de Tolú, as well as the diversification of its tourist offer.
