A technique to improve DECT transmission quality and coverage
A DECT base station architecture is presented which allows to enlarge the coverage area and/or to improve the transmission quality both in uplink and in downlink, without any impact on the DECT user terminal. In accordance with the proposed architecture the base station received uplink signal is first equalized before decision and is also used to obtain an estimate of the transmission channel. This estimate is subsequently used to precompensate the downlink signal before transmission. The paper illustrates the architecture of the proposed system and its functional behavior. Performance improvement due to equalization, channel estimation and precompensation under severe multipath conditions is shown through computer simulation.
