Advantages of compounding medicines are lack of or limit dye substances, preservatives, fragrances what is important for pediatric population and allergic persons. Additionally, the dose of active ingredient may be adjusted to weight and age of patient. That is important when there is lack of finished medical product in pharmaceutical market. complex overview of publications in medical bases such as: Scopus, Embase, ScienceDirect, PubMed with the searching sentences: ear + compounding + medication, ENT + compounding + medication, compounding + drugs + ENT. Results: Active ingredients used in compounding medications are: anti-inflammatory substances (hydrocortisonum, prednisolone), antibacterial substances (metronidazole), antifungal (nystatin, clotrimazole), local anesthetics (tetracaine, benzocaine) and menthol, thymol, peppermint oil, boric acid or glycerol.
