The article presents the warehouse as an object which is described with particular attention drawn to a number of characteristics in view of safety, threats, risk, and reliability. In the first section, the warehouse is analyzed as a system where core processes are carried out. The next sections include: the factors in the modelling of the storage system and warehouse operational research where the movement of goods is described at discrete moments in time. The final section is concerned with a model of warehouse safety (resilience to unintended situations). It is developed by identifying a layered protection system taking into account external threats in the warehouse environment and the warehouse resilience to them. In conclusion it is stated that the problem discussed in the article is current, relevant, and developing, which has been proved in four aspects.
