Obtaining the Added Value in the Systems Engineering program of the University of Nariño
The added value is the product of the work carried out within an institution, to generate academic contribution to its students over time. In Colombia, evaluating the quality of the teaching-learning processes within the classroom is of great relevance, for which the Colombian Institute for the Evaluation of Education (for its acronym in Spanish ICFES) designed the Saber Tests to determine the degree of skills acquired by a student throughout their academic training. The purpose of this research is to calculate the added value of the training provided to students in the Systems Engineering program of the University of Nariño from the traceability of the results of the students who presented the Saber 11 test from year 2006 with those achieved in the Saber Pro test in the period 2013-2018. To do this, the study was guided by the CRISP-DM Methodology considering four components of the Saber Tests: Critical Reading, Quantitative Reasoning, Citizenship Competencies and English, and using the ICFES open databases as sources of information. As a result, it was possible to identify that the English Competence was the one that yielded the greatest added value and that in Citizen Competencies it presents deficiencies. With the completion of this study, a framework was generated to obtain added value, which will allow evaluating the degree of assertiveness of the pensum used and that allows continuous improvement in the academic processes of the Systems Engineering program of the University of Nariño.
