Diverse approaches for creativity assessment give university teachers a significant number of methods and tools such as tests, scales, checklists which are aimed to diagnose person’s abilities to be creative. With respect to the engineering education there is a need for measuring the level of student’s creative potential to assess the educational results. Considering the approach realized in SRBCSS (Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students) the present study initiates a new instrument developing a set of scales to estimate the engineering student’s creative potential in the areas of intelligence and creativity, motivation and will, productivity, as well as reflection. The solution considers the engineering specifics and can be applied at any stage of studying. It was tested while measuring the creative potential of engineering students.
