In this study, role of the clinical engineering unit on the operation and development of the technical and biomedical infrastructure of health institutions is firstly highlighted. Also, unit configurations in public hospitals, operation formats, problems in the development process and solutions are discussed. Current situation and operational structure of the clinical engineering, a joint point of engineering and medical science, in public hospitals with differs from units in other institutions are evaluated.
