Selection of an Educational Repository of 3D Objects at the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL)

Educational repositories are fundamental elements in an educational institution since they allow to store, organize, disseminate and share learning objects. This paper aims to indicate the aspects to consider in the selection of an educational repository of 3D objects, in addition to the characteristics of a repository such as interoperability, functionality, interactivity and standardization. To facilitate the reuse of 3D objects a distinctive feature is the real-time interaction with each of the stored resources, this is possible thanks to the use of the WebGL standard. For the selection of the repository a descriptive investigation was carried out where variables such as metadata and technology were triggers for the selection. As a result, the Sketchfab repository was selected and adapted because it complied with the evaluation characteristics proposed in which 54 3D UTPL models were uploaded. It can be concluded that it is necessary to promote the use of own metadata for 3D objects in the repositories.
