Prevalence of compliance with surgical hand hygiene procedures of medical staff at the central obstetrics and gynecology hospital in 2022 and some related factors

Backgroud: The study aimed to determine the prevalence and analysis of some factors related to medical staff's adherence to surgical hand hygiene. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was performed on 316 surgical hand hygiene visits of medical staff participating in surgery at the Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department of the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2022. Results: 100% of surgical hand hygiene using antibacterial soap. The compliance rate for surgical hand hygiene is 61.7%; Compared with the surgical hand hygiene session of the emergency surgery, the compliance with surgical hand hygiene during the session surgery was 3.0 times higher; Hygiene times of surgical assistant medical staff are 2.2 times more likely to comply than staff in charge of instruments. Conclusion: The hospital needs solutions to improve the medical staff's surgical hand hygiene compliance rate, especially for staff participating in emergency surgery.
