The methods of analysis and synthesis of theories from the available data on the preposition “on” as well as the methods of classifying and systematizing prepositions are applied to English-Vietnamese translation. From the collected data, this study reveals the cases of the shift in meanings of “on” and the characteristics of multiple meanings of the preposition under the cognitive semantics approach. In the course of translation, contextual meanings are used in order to convey the meanings appropriately in the Vietnamese style. 摘要

本研究探讨了介词“on”从英语翻译成越南语的意义变化,除了分析介词意义变化的情况外,还旨在解释在认知语义学方法下介词“on”不被翻译成“trên”及其越南语等价词的情况。本文将对介词“on”的现有资料进行理论分析和综合的方法以及对介词进行分类和系统化的方法应用于英越语翻译。从收集到的数据中,本研究揭示了认知语义学方法下介词“on”的意义转移案例以及介词的多重意义特征。在翻译过程中,语境意义的使用是为了在越南语中恰当地传达意义。本文可以为翻译教学做出一定的贡献,并为英语学习者提供参考资料。
