Results showed that at baseline all participants ate their typical diet (i.e., pureed food) but no chewing components or movements were observed. The findings of the assessment protocol indicated that it offers a prescriptive assessment of chewing and its components across different food textures. The results of the assessment provided useful information for clinicians by identifying a potential starting point for interventions to address chewing deficits. Furthermore, the findings add to the existing literature on the role of tongue lateralization and specific tongue movements in chewing. Abstract
