Notice of recent additions to the marine fauna of the eastern coast of North America

Abstract

IN the fonowing notice there will be found descriptions of new species of Hydroids, belonging to the Plumularidce, referred to in the preceding number, but from which they were omitted, for lack of space. These and other species herein named, as well as those described in the last n urn ber, fm'm part of the extensive collections of marine Invertebrata, belonging to the U. S. Commission of Fish and Fisheries, which have been entrusted to me for examination and desCl'iption, by the Commissioner, Professor S. F. Baird. In the present notice, there are also included certain species which were collected during several special dredging expeditions, undertaken by the author, with Professor S. 1. Smith and others, in 1864, 1865, 1868, 1870, previous to the organization of the Fish Commission,
