Abstract

Over the last ten years the state-of-the-art in robotic force/torque sensors has been developed to a high degree in research laboratories. Unfortunately, such systems have not found much use outside of the laboratory because of high cost and sophisticated system software. This paper will present how the force/torque sensor has been implemented in robotic applications such as grinding/deburring, drilling and assembly for industry and military. Overload sensing and robot programming by use of force/torque sensors are also presented.
