Winter tourism introduction: motivation and scope of the book.

Abstract

Abstract This introductory chapter briefly presents two observations emanating from this book on winter tourism: (1) that ski resorts worldwide face many common challenges and can learn from each other; and (2) that the respective development concept and related set of socio-economic and cultural conditions have a significant influence on future development and requires adaptation processes.
