Among the various strains of <em>Streptomyces</em> and <em>Bacillus</em> tested, <em>Streptomyces aureus</em> NCIB 9803 was selected for the microbial conversion process due to its high IMP-degrading activity. A maximum conversion yield of 0.43 (86% of the theoretical value) was obtained when IMP was added to the culture medium at 24 h. Abstract
The production of inosine by microbial conversion of 5′-inosinic acid (IMP) was investigated.
