Ascomycetes gave heterogeneous results since disappearance of PCP occurred both in phenoloxidases-producing and non-producing strains. Basidiomycetes were high producers of phenoloxidases and showed a moderate depletion of PCP. Yeasts degraded PCP very poorly and did not produce phenoloxidases.
