Abstract
A self-powered vehicle speed sensor based on an inertial rotary electromagnetic energy harvester is proposed. We have designed a unique container to protect the device in the experiment and transfer the pressure to the device. The maximum voltage, the power output and the total generated energy we get can be up to 9.8 V, 1.34 mW and 22.5 mJ with the loading resistance of 10 MΩ when the vehicle speed is 26 km/h. The speed of the vehicle can be detected accurately with a range of maximum 30 km/h. The energy harvested from the device is promised to be used to support an external low power consumption circuit for signal detection.
