Application of Theories and Methods of Systems Science to the Study of the Complexity of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract

The complexity of Traditional Chinese Medicine has been explored from different aspects with the theories and methods of systems science. In this paper, the principle of system science and the complicated characteristics of Traditional Chinese Medicine are introduced first. Then, the current research status is reviewed. Finally, the research approaches and the future developmental trend are predicted at three levels of systems science, including the fundamental theory level, the technical science level and the engineering technology level.
