Abstract
The method for the identification of Chlamydia trachomatis in tissue culture described by Hobson was slightly modified and tested as to its usefullness for routine-diagnostic. Cervical swabs of 74 prostitutes and 100 unselected gynecological outpatients were examined for Chlamydia trachomatis. The isolation of Chlamydia was carried out by McCoy cell culture; the inclusions were identified by Giemsa and Lugol's stain procedure.
The isolation rate of Chlamydia trachomatis was 17% in the group of the prostitutes, whereas in the group of unselected women no Chlamydia were detected.
The correspondence of our findings with previous results indicates the applicability of the method used.
