The use of technology in education can improve the quality and effectiveness of learning. Learning media is an important element in the learning process. The use of appropriate learning media can help improve the quality of learning and help educators to gain broader insights. The use of anima-tion-based learning media can help students understand the material better. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of using animated videos as an information technology-based learning media in Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Surabaya. The research method used is descriptive study with data collec-tion technique through survey. The research sample consisted of 35 students who met certain criteria. After the questionnaire was distributed, the questionnaire data was analyzed using percentage technique. The re-sults of the study showed that students were satisfied and effective in using animated videos as a learning media.
