LA GESTION PUBLICA DESDE EL DATO. OPORTUNIDADES DE LA ESTADISTICA PUBLICA

Abstract

La estadística oficial ha sido la encargada desde su creación de la gestión de datos para la toma de decisiones tanto pública como para la sociedad, siendo éste su papel principal, y constituyendo un elemento imprescindible en el sistema de información de cualquier sociedad democrática. En los últimos tiempos, debido al ingente aumento en la generación de datos, en sus explotaciones y en la tecnología para su tratamiento, y debido a los numerosos nuevos intereses creados en su gestión, tanto para la empresa pública como privada, los institutos de estadística oficiales deben adaptarse para seguir siendo referencia social, política y de la empresa privada como generadora de datos para la toma de decisiones. Con este artículo se quiere poner de manifiesto, la necesidad de gestionar desde el análisis de datos, desde la evidencia a través del uso de la estadística oficial en particular y a través del dato, en general. Official statistics have been responsible since their creation for managing data for making decisions of both a public nature and for society, this being their main role, while also constituting an essential element in the information system of any democratic society. In recent times, due to the enormous increase in the amount of data generated, in their exploitation and in the technology for their processing, and due to the numerous new interests created in their management, for both public and private companies, official statistics institutes are having to adapt in order to remain in place as a reference for the social, political and private company arenas as generators of data for decision making. With this article, the aim is to highlight the need to proceed with management, from data analysis, from evidence, through the use of official statistics in particular, and through data in general.
