Effect of common bacterial blight severity on common bean yield

Abstract

The effect of common bacterial blight (CBB) severity on common bean seed yield was studied in Ethiopia from 1989 to 2003. There was an increase in CBB severity with time, and a corresponding decline in yield. The linear regression estimates that for every percentage of CBB severity increase there was a loss of about 3.9, 9.9 and 14.5 kg/ha seed yield for the cultivars Mexican-142, Awash-1 and Brown speckled respectively.
