It also helps in formulating lifelong planning to upgrade our public health and to stop the spread of TTDs in general public. Materials and Methods: Our objective was to find out the recent trends and seroprevalence of TTDs in voluntary blood donors at a tertiary care hospital in western part of India. A total 4117 donors are included in our study from January to December 2019. The blood samples were tested for Human Immunodeficiency Virus I and II, Hepatitis B and C virus, Syphilis and Malaria. Results: Out of 4117 donors, a total of 39 (0.95 %) donors were positive for Transfusion Transmitted Diseases, out of which 23 (0.56%), 7(0.17%) and 9 (0.22%) donors were positive for HBV, HIV and HCV respectively. Conclusion: The most substantial part of every blood donation is finding out accurate blood donors who are at very low risk for Transfusion Transmitted Diseases and is achieved through efficient counseling and inclusion of more sophisticated techniques for screening to reduce the transmission during the window period.
