Ukrainian refugees in Poland: problems and challenges faced by local governments – social context

Abstract

Background: February 24, 2022, this day marked the beginning of a new, wartime reality. After the attack of the Russian armed forces on our Ukrainian neighbor, we were faced with the desire to provide shelter and support to those who managed to escape the attack of the enemy. Intention: Outline the problems and challenges faced by local governments. Methods: The article uses the method of analysis and synthesis, Results: The best assumption of long-term aid would be to reach a compromise by mitigating threats and conflicts and guaranteeing stability for both sides, so that both refugees and compatriots would feel taken care of by the state, which in the future will lay the foundations for the expected economic growth. Conclusion: Changes in society have happened, but they will continue, it is inevitable. We will no longer be the society we were before February 24, 2022. It is only up to us - ordinary people - how our common Polish-Ukrainian fate will turn out.
