Abstract
Corticosteroid doesnt give additional benefit for upper respiratory tract infection (URTI), instead it increases risk of adverse effects especially if there is a concomitant comorbid or chronic disease although for short term use. This study is aimed to investigate if corticostroid drugs are still prescribed for URTI at TM Clinic in Surabaya. This is a retrospective study with the medications prescribed are taken from the medication records or presriptions during the period of Januari until March 2020. Diagnose is based on ICD 10 at the visit book wich then refers to the medication record and the prescription given. There are totally 92 cases of URTI and 22 (24%) of them are still given corticosteroid drugs which are dexamethasone 0,5 mg and methylprednisolone 4 mg with the frequency of use are 14 (15%) and 8 (9%) resepectively. In conclusion, dexamethasone and methylprednisolone orally are still prescribed.
