Abstract
The role of the supply chain in corporate strategy has been largely neglected. This paper discusses differing perspectives on the supply chain and proposes a three-part framework: structure, process and inter-organizational relationships. This framework presents opportunity to consider specific strategic initiatives in each area. Strategy, however, is a search for differential advantage which appears to be strongest in the potential adaptation to inter-organizational issues.
