Abstract
The urgency of this study is the analysis of the presence of Sn levels and cassiterite minerals in tailings from tin ore washing at the TB Pemali Pit mining of PT. Timah Tbk. There is less tin in the field, causing tailings to have the opportunity to be reprocessed. Tailings that always increase from each tin washing using a pan america jig result in the accumulation of tailings around the mine. Generally, when washing tin using pan america jigs will not achieve 100% recovery so that the associated minerals and even the main minerals are still left behind and wasted with tailings. Tailings exploitation can be easier than trying to make an insitu collision, this is because generally the tailings are already on the surface or in shallow places, so the process of excavation / re-mining requires lower costs as done by the community around the mine so far. The purpose of this study is to provide information to tin ore mining activities regarding 1) Sn content and cassiterite mineral content in tin ore processing tailings. 2) Knowing efforts to improve the recovery of tin ore washing results with modifications to Pan America Jig. The study was conducted by conducting laboratory tests of tailings samples and washing tailings samples with a pan america jig that had been modified to the thickness of the bed. The average content of cassiterite (Sn) is 10.77%Sn. Efforts made to increase production results are changing bed thickness in accordance with SOPs. The simulation production result according to SOP is 359.2 kgSn/shift. The production increased by 88.72 kg from the previous production of 270.48 KgSn / Shift. If reprocessing of tailings continues, the company will experience profits.
