Confessional Painting as a Source for the Study of Cossack Families in the Irkutsk Province (on the Example of the Confessional Painting of the Tunka Nicholas Church in 1900)

Abstract

The article analyzes the confessional painting of the Tunka Nicholas Church of the Irkutsk district in 1900 as an important source for the study of the history of the Cossacks and Cossack families in the Irkutsk province. The author defines the features of this church document and emphasizes the practical significance of the source in the genealogical and historical studies of the Cossacks of the Tunka volost of the Irkutsk district.
