Agronomic performance and yield of farmer‐saved and certified seeds of maize

Abstract

When farmer-saved and certified seeds of a medium maturing Quality Protein Maize were compared, the certified seed had better characteristics and also better growth and yield in a field trial, especially in the minor season, when farmer-saved seeds succumbed to moisture stress.
