Germination of conidia in Phoma betae

Abstract

Variations in conidial germination in vitro and the influence of spore washing, molarity of the growth medium, pH, temperature, age of culture and light on the germination of conidia in Phoma betae are described. The germ-tube arises internal to the wall of the spore which is ruptured during germination. Both the spore wall and that of the germ-tube appear two-layered in ultrathin sections.
