Abstract

A library school education does not always prepare librarians to teach information literacy skills to students or to talk constructively with faculty. Thus, on-going training is needed for librarians to develop and practice these skills. This article details four workshops created by University of Arizona (UA) librarians for their colleagues to increase their understanding and use of the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, to provide strategies and tools for talking to faculty, and to lay the groundwork for campus-wide advocacy. For each workshop, there is a section on planning, content, evaluation, and reflection.
