Abstract
This article presents a successful practice proposed for arts teaching. The objective was to work on the valorization of black identity in a perspective of anti-racist formation. As a methodology, workshops for free embroidery practice were created using ideograms from Adinkra Symbols. The results were obtained considering the embroidered production made on the creation and presentation images workshops on art and photography exhibitions, as well as, analysis made through free interviews with the participants. We concluded that the activity exceeded expectations in the sense of expected learning; considering the acquisition of notions about a technique, the socialization of experience and acquisition of knowledge about the Adinkra culture. The whole practice proved effective as anti-racist education tool and in attention to the use of law 10639.
