Abstract

Contact potential differences (c. p. d.) on surfaces are measured by the Kelvin method using a “point vibrating electrode”. Measurement of the c. p. d. distribution is shown to be a sensitive method of examining electrical surface inhomogeneity and also to facilitate the measurement of voltage distributions along thin samples.
