My second preferred procedure, if RSB thickness was critical, such as in the case of a thick flap or a case of a large mesopic pupil that may require enlargement of the optical zone, would be surface ablation with use of mitomycin-C. Target refraction in both procedures depends on the refraction of the other eye treated in order to avoid postoperative anisometropia.
