Abstract
Density and absolute viscosity were measured for four binary mixtures composed by ethylene glycol diethyl ether and 1-alkanol (1-propanol to 1-hexanol). The measurements were carried out at 0.1 MPa and at four temperatures between 293.15 and 323.15 K. The density for the pure fluids and mixtures was correctly modeled with a perturbed chain-statistical associating fluid theory equation of state (PC-SAFT EoS). On the other hand, free volume theory combined with the equation of state was able to correctly model the absolute viscosity for all mixtures. The Redlich–Kister model was successfully applied in the correlation of derived properties as deviation in viscosity and excess volume. Also, the molecular interactions were studied from PC-SAFT EoS and the results of the excess volume.

The Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data is a monthly journal devoted to the publication of data obtained from both experiment and computation, which are viewed as complementary. It is the only American Chemical Society journal primarily concerned with articles containing data on the phase behavior and the physical, thermodynamic, and transport properties of well-defined materials, including complex mixtures of known compositions. While environmental and biological samples are of interest, their compositions must be known and reproducible. As a result, adsorption on natural product materials does not generally fit within the scope of Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data.
